Anita B. Knox

Biography


Anita B. Knox, aged 84, passed away suddenly on 01/16/10. She was born in Visselhovede, Germany and came to this country as a young girl with her parents, Henry and Frieda Bade, and her sister, Ilse, all of whom predeceased her.

She is survived by her niece, Gail Walker of Seaford, Delaware; nephew, Peter Wedderien of Oriental, North Carolina; stepsons, Leslie J. Knox, Jr. of Pittsford, NY and Keith T. Knox of Kihei, Hawaii, and numerous step grandchildren and great grandchildren, two grand nephews and a great grand niece.

Her business career was in the banking industry. She retired as a bank manager in Stanfordville, NY in 1986 and relocated to Riverside, PA. In 1989, she married Leslie J. (Les) Knox, who predeceased her on November 1st, 2009.

Anita was active in the local community, serving as a volunteer at Geisinger Medical Center and participating in the Susquehanna Chorale and programs at the Riverside Senior Center. She began volunteering at Geisinger in August, 1987 and had accumulated 4930 hours with the Endoscopy Department and the Volunteer Couriers.

For twenty-four years, Anita served as Choir Director and Organist at the Washingtonville Evangelical Lutheran Church she loved so well. She had an abiding love for music and was a member of several local choruses. Anita traveled extensively with Les and often combined travel and singing. One of her fondest memories was singing with a chorus at the Canterbury Cathedral in England.

Anita had a passion for Nature, was a dedicated recycler and gardener and loved animals, birds in particular. The flock of various species, which entertained her outside her kitchen window, will miss her faithful attention to their needs.

A memorial service will be held at Twelve Noon on Saturday, Feburary 27,2010 at the Washingtonville Lutheran Church, 15 Strawberry Ridge Road, Washingtonville, PA 17884, with Pastor Melody Sell, officiating. Family and friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service in the library of the church.

Anita will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.
