Biography
LEWISBURG — Helen Pauline Gearhart, 93, of 889 Fairground Road, Lewisburg, died at 8:10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, in the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, where she had lived since May 2007. Prior to living at Buffalo Valley, she had resided at 6580 Old Turnpike Road, Vicksburg, for many years.
Born Feb. 23, 1916, in Buffalo Township, she was a daughter of the late Warren James and Mary Alberta Leinbach Gearhart.
She attended the Vicksburg Public School and was a graduate with the Class of 1934 of the Mifflinburg High School.
She retired in 1980 after 30 years employment as a salesperson with the former J.J. Newberry Company, Lewisburg.
She was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church, Lewisburg, where she was a member of the adult Sunday school class and served many years on the church Altar Guild. She was a member of the Vicksburg Flower Club and enjoyed raising flowes and was a self-proclaimed oil picture painter. She also served as a volunteer at the Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, for many years.
She is survived by a sister-in-law, Kathryn Marie Gearhart, Lewisburg.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Mae Gearhart on Nov. 2, 1965, and a brother, Paul Warren Gearhart on Jan. 29, 2009.
Visitors will be received by the family Wednesday afternoon at the Faith Lutheran Church, 2349 Old Turnpike Road, Lewisburg, prior to the funeral service, which will be held at 1:30 p.m. with the Rev. Gregory A. Davidson, her pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in the Dreisbach Church Cemetery, Buffalo Township.
Memorials in her name may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church, 2349 Old Turnpike Road, Lewisburg, Pa. 17837.
Arrangements are under the care of the Schwartz-Adamo Funeral and Cremation Service, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg.
